Anti-aging magic ingredient : Curd or Yogurt

Curd or yogurt is an Indian household staple.

Whether you hail from the north or the south, east or west, a typical Indian kitchen nearly always is stocked up on curd. It's a summer staple in India (and for pretty much most of the year as well) and is consumed in many forms - plain curd, raita, buttermilk, kadhi, etc.

But, as a beauty ingredient, it's powers are unmatched. Easily available and versatile, curd face masks and treatment are among the most effective beauty remedies for all types of skins.

Here's a list of the face masks you can use that have curd as their main ingredient. And feel the difference.

For Dry and Combination Skin

Ingredients:

1 tbsp Curd
1 tbsp Honey

Method:

In a glass bowl, take 1 tbsp of well-beaten curd. You can use either the home made one or the store-bought one. It should be plain and not flavoured.
Add 1 tbsp honey to it.
Mix well with a spoon.
Using a beauty brush or your fingers, start applying it to your face.
Apply a thick paste and massage into the skin well.
Leave it on for 10-15 minutes.
\Wash off with cool water.

Benefits:

Curd has lactic acid that visibly whitens and lightens the skins. Its anti-inflammatory properties help in reducing age spots and acne. The powerful anti-oxidants in yogurt soothe and hydrate dry skin.
Honey is a natural anti-bacterial agent and works wonders on acne and problem skin. It has been used since ancient times in beauty regimes for its powerful moisturizing qualities. It is also rich in anti-oxidants that fight aging.

Hello Aging - I'll Always Be Beautiful!

40.

A landmark year for your skin.

The youthful tightness, suppleness and flawlessness of the 20s and 30s starts to visibly reduce. It can be scary. But, it need not be.

No woman likes to see an older, aging version of herself in the mirror. I don't either!

When I hit the 40-milestone a few years ago, I began splurging on expensive beauty creams and lotions and serums to ensure my skin didn't get ragged and wrinkly. But one day I applied besan (gram flour) mixed with raw milk and wild turmeric on my skin and was taken aback to see how clean and glowing I looked. That’s when I decided to toss aside the branded serums and lotions and turned to my kitchen.
Everything was there. I just had to know how to use it.

Then began a fascinating journey of studying and exploring the beautifying power of our familiar kitchen ingredients, which had more to them than met the eye (or rather, the taste buds!)

Don't get me wrong. I believe in embracing all phases of life that the Almighty has blessed us with. But, who said aging means looking dowdy?

I devoured websites, watched a zillion YouTube videos. And realized one thing - there wasn't one go-to place where I could get all the beauty recipes, tips and tricks in one compact place.

That's how this blog was born. This will be your go-to place for knowing how to tackle everything from age spots to wrinkles and problem skin by using everything you already have in your kitchen.

I have tried all the recipes myself as per my skin type (combination skin) and my friends and family have tried out several others. Some results have been instant (such as the rice flour paste face masks and the recipes with raw milk). Others have taken some time. But one thing is for sure. Once you start following these beauty tips, your skin is going to thank you for it!

Do share your feedback - I'd love to hear from you!

Be beautiful, always :)
